We like to bring you stories from BetterPoints users who are using the app to make positive changes to their lives and earning rewards while they do so. Recently I heard from Frances who is a Health Professional working in the NHS and is in the ‘My Gateway Rewards’ challenge in East London. She has earned over 12,000 BetterPoints already.
We asked Frances what prompted her to start using the BetterPoints app?
"I was encouraged to join the rewards challenge via my housing association (Gateway Housing) to earn rewards for my involvement in leaseholder meetings and committees, and for being active.
Since I’ve been using the app it’s inspired me to be more active too, it has encouraged me to walk more instead of taking public transport. This makes me feel really motivated and gives me a sense of accomplishment. It has also encouraged me to get involved with the quality improvement committee and activities."
We then went on to ask ‘What do you plan to spend your BetterPoints on?’
I recently redeemed some points on a Hotel Chocolat digital giftcard, next I intend to save for supermarket vouchers for Marks & Spencer, Tesco and Waitrose."
What is quite unique about this BetterPoints challenge is that it is helping the Housing Association bring a sense of community at their events. Frances is a member of the Ducere Tenants Residents Association and she is encouraging other residents to join the BetterPoints scheme and get involved too.
Being on the residents association means I can reach out to the local community to help them make changes and be more active too. We are focused on helping children and families to engage, attend educational events and build a community spirit.
Her final thoughts were:
I think that BetterPoints schemes should be adopted in all housing associations and even in workplaces to encourage residents and employees to be more active and engaged in their local communities." – Frances from Bethnal Green.
